Separate the three roles before accepting the package
When an employer pays for a move to Cyprus, the business paying the invoice, the person receiving practical help and the professional accepting an engagement may have different roles. Before choosing relocation assistance, agree who instructs each task, what the funding covers and what information the parties will receive. A company budget approval is not a complete service specification.
This is an original purchasing guide from Relocated.cy, a coordination platform. It does not interpret an employment policy, establish immigration eligibility or advertise an employer package with fixed terms. Ask the actual provider and the relevant independent professionals to confirm their engagements. The worksheet helps the parties prepare a clear enquiry rather than assume that one payment creates one all-inclusive assignment.
Start with the employer's actual funding decision
Ask the employer to identify the tasks it proposes to fund and the person authorised to approve expenditure. Distinguish an agreed amount from a list of included services. A budget can set a limit without telling the provider which work the employee needs or which appointment the employer is accepting.
Clarify whether the provider invoices the employer or the employee pays and seeks reimbursement under an internal policy. Keep that commercial arrangement separate from any question about the policy's legal or tax treatment. Those questions need the appropriate adviser and the actual documents, not a general article about moving.
If family assistance is being considered, identify it explicitly in the proposed scope. Do not assume that funding for one employee includes every accompanying person or their separate professional tasks. Record an unconfirmed item as unconfirmed rather than including it in a total that nobody has accepted.
Build a task and instruction schedule
List the proposed practical tasks and any separately required professional enquiries. For each one, record the recipient, proposed provider, expected output and the person who can authorise it. Avoid a single line called relocation support when the parties mean different things by that phrase.
Ask the provider what it actually coordinates and what a separate professional performs. An administrator arranging a meeting is not necessarily the person responsible for the resulting legal or tax advice. Keep professional responsibility attached to the relevant appointment rather than allowing a central contact to appear responsible for every conclusion.
Identify dependencies without turning them into promised outcomes. A task may require information from the employee, employer or another adviser before it can proceed. The schedule should name the required input and owner, while leaving the authority or professional responsible for its own decision.
Agree what progress information is shared
Ask the employee and provider to establish appropriate communication arrangements for the actual services. The employer may need an invoice and a high-level task status without needing every personal document or confidential professional discussion. Do not use a shared project folder as a default destination for all material.
Record who can receive each type of update and through which channel. An employee's practical contact, the employer's finance team and an independent adviser may need different information. This is a planning suggestion, not a determination of privacy rights or a substitute for the applicable professional terms.
If a disagreement arises over a requested update, refer it to the responsible parties before circulating the material. Clear information boundaries should make coordination useful, rather than force the employee to choose between a practical service and an unexplained disclosure.
Compare the provider's scope with the funded scope
Send prospective providers the same task brief and ask them to mark included, excluded and separately proposed work. Keep any limitation beside the relevant price. A provider's broad package name does not establish that it matches an employer's internal understanding of relocation help.
Ask how the offer counts people, appointments and additional attendance. Request the total known service charges and identify expenses or professional fees that require confirmation. Do not add an assumed Cyprus market price to fill a gap or describe the employer's budget as the actual cost of every service.
Clarify how a change is approved if the employee requests another task. A useful route identifies the request, proposed scope, price basis and authorised payer before an instruction is accepted. Do not leave the provider to infer spending authority from whichever person replies first.
Keep personal and business decisions distinct
The official Your Europe residence guidance discusses registering residence in an EU context. It is background for treating a person's circumstances as a separate enquiry, not a service checklist that establishes a particular person's Cyprus route. Have the relevant professional confirm what needs assessment before relying on a proposed move timetable.
Likewise, practical relocation coordination does not determine payroll arrangements, employment terms or company obligations. Route those questions to the responsible adviser with the actual facts. Record which professional is expected to respond so an unresolved issue is not lost between the employer and employee.
For a later home purchase, Properly's digital property process is a relevant separate enquiry. Confirm its actual scope and the independent lawyer engagement. An employer-funded relocation assignment should not be described as including a property transaction unless the relevant parties have expressly agreed that separate work.
Confirm a usable start and handover
Before starting, ask each party to confirm the task schedule, contacts, accepted charges and outstanding inputs. Use clear status labels such as requested, received and reviewed. A scheduled appointment is different from a completed task, and a completed coordination task is different from an authority's decision.
At the end of an assignment, request the agreed record of completed work and unresolved items. Keep personal documents with their appropriate recipient rather than treating the employer's invoice file as the complete relocation file. If support continues, define the ongoing scope separately.
The useful result is an arrangement the employee, employer and provider can each explain consistently. Each should know what is funded, who can instruct it and who answers the next question. That clarity can make a coordinated service easier to use without implying that the platform replaces independent professionals.
Source and limits
Official European Commission residence guidance was checked on 23 October 2026 for general background only. The role and funding schedule above is original editorial guidance, not an employment-policy interpretation or personal residence, payroll, legal or tax advice. Relocated.cy coordinates services; actual availability, professional engagements and charges must be confirmed for the enquiry.
Questions before you start
Does employer funding define the whole relocation service?+
No. Identify the funded tasks, authorised payer and actual provider engagement separately. A budget approval is not a complete service specification.
Does this guide interpret an employment policy?+
No. Ask the appropriate adviser about the actual documents and individual employment, residence or tax questions.
Is a home purchase included in employer relocation assistance?+
Do not assume so. Confirm any separate property service and independent lawyer engagement directly with the relevant provider.
