Quote the shipment before you compare the price

A useful household-removals quote follows an agreed inventory from collection to the actual delivery address. Ask who packs, transports, stores, clears and unloads it, and which charges remain outside the quoted figure. Your business relocation adviser may help organise the move, but that does not make the adviser the carrier or settle the customs position of your belongings.

This guide helps a founder or family commission a defined transport service alongside a business move to Cyprus. It does not announce a removals package from Relocated. Ask what coordination is actually available and obtain the transport provider's own scope and terms. A company incorporation appointment and a shipment booking involve different decisions, even when one contact helps arrange both.

Build an inventory that a carrier can price

Walk through the rooms you intend to empty and prepare one dated inventory for every bidder. Record large furniture, boxed items, fragile pieces and anything that needs dismantling. Photographs can help explain access and size, but ask the carrier what survey it needs before treating a price as firm. A quick estimate from an incomplete list can be a poor basis for selecting a provider.

Separate goods you are keeping with you from goods travelling in the shipment. Explain whether any business equipment is included and ask the responsible customs specialist how it should be described. Do not assume a laptop, stock for resale and a dining table share the same treatment. Leave eligibility decisions to the relevant specialist or authority rather than changing an inventory label to fit a hoped-for exemption.

Make collection and delivery conditions explicit

Give each bidder the collection floor, lift availability, parking arrangements and likely carrying distance. Do the same for the Cyprus destination. If the final address is unknown, ask for an explicitly provisional delivery allowance and the conditions for revising it. A quote for unloading beside a ground-floor entrance may not describe the job eventually needed at an upper-floor apartment.

Ask who checks access before the vehicle arrives and how a change is approved. Establish whether dismantling, reassembly, unpacking and removal of packing materials are included. If a separate local crew handles the last stage, identify its role and the person who deals with a missed appointment. Keep the request practical. You need a named route for solving a delivery problem while your household is waiting.

Compare transport arrangements and storage separately

Request the proposed collection window, expected transit window and delivery-booking process. Ask which dates are commitments and which depend on a shared load, sailing, clearance or another condition. A founder may need a working desk before the rest of the furniture arrives. Price that requirement explicitly instead of assuming that a general arrival estimate guarantees a usable home office on a particular morning.

If storage may be needed, ask where the goods would be held, how the charge is calculated and what starts and stops the charging period. Confirm the notice required to arrange onward delivery and whether access to stored goods is available. Compare the same scenario across quotes, such as a delayed tenancy start. Do not select the cheapest transport figure while leaving the most likely storage scenario unpriced.

Keep customs questions with the responsible specialist

Cyprus Customs publishes separate guidance for transfers from another EU member state and from outside the EU. Use its current transfer-of-normal-residence guidance to identify which questions need checking for your route. This article does not determine eligibility for relief, list the complete evidence required or calculate a tax charge. Ask Customs or your appointed specialist to confirm the position for the actual goods and circumstances before booking around an assumed result.

Make the commercial responsibility clear even while those checks are underway. Who prepares the goods list, requests supporting documents, submits any required declaration and answers follow-up questions? Ask whether that work is in the mover's quote or separately engaged. Record the date by which the specialist needs information and how a missing document affects collection or storage. Never describe an unconfirmed customs outcome as an included benefit of relocation coordination.

Read protection and claims arrangements before collection

Ask the provider to explain its contractual responsibility for loss or damage and any separately offered insurance. Obtain the actual wording, relevant exclusions, valuation method and claims instructions. If insurance is offered, identify the insurer and the evidence of cover you will receive. A reference to goods being protected does not tell you how a damaged item would be assessed or who handles the claim.

Prepare a condition record in the way the provider requests and keep the signed inventory and collection paperwork. Ask what you should inspect at delivery and how concerns should be recorded or reported under the applicable terms. Do not assume a universal claim deadline from this guide. For valuable or unusual items, resolve the provider's acceptance and protection conditions before they are packed, rather than discovering an exclusion after arrival.

Put the full commercial comparison on one page

For each quote, record the inventory version, route, collection and delivery scope, packing, storage assumptions, customs-work fee and protection arrangements. Add taxes and any excluded charges that the bidder identifies. Mark an unanswered charge as unknown, not zero. Where a cost depends on a future event, request the calculation basis and compare one realistic scenario rather than presenting an estimate as a guaranteed total.

Identify who may approve extra work during the move and how written approval is recorded. A family member meeting the collection crew may be able to provide access without being authorised to buy additional services. Give the mover a usable contact route and decision process. Then confirm which accepted quote version forms the booking and how changes to inventory, address or dates are priced.

Coordinate the shipment with the business move

Keep a small dependency list shared with the people handling the practical move. It can identify when keys are expected, who can receive the goods and which essentials travel separately. Avoid sending complete identity or financial files to every participant. Ask each provider for its required documents and collection channel. Shipment coordination should reduce duplicate requests rather than create a broad circulation list for sensitive records.

Choose the provider whose written scope fits the shipment and whose unresolved questions you can settle before collection. Relocated can be asked whether practical coordination belongs in its actual engagement; the mover remains responsible for the transport work it accepts. Customs decisions and individual legal or tax questions require their own confirmation. The useful purchase is a documented service you understand, with a workable plan for the goods arriving later than expected.

Questions before you start

Does a relocation adviser automatically provide the transport?+

No. Ask who accepts the transport engagement and which practical coordination is actually available from Relocated. The accepted scopes must identify each provider.

Does this guide confirm customs relief for my belongings?+

No. Cyprus Customs publishes route-specific guidance. Ask Customs or the appointed specialist to confirm your individual goods, evidence and circumstances.

What makes two removals quotes comparable?+

Use the same dated inventory and access information, then compare packing, transport, storage assumptions, customs-work scope, delivery and protection terms.
